Do you only work with businesses, or can individual customers order too?

We work with businesses and individual customers alike. Most of our design work is for joinery workshops and trade contractors, but if you have a specific piece in mind for your own home or project, we're happy to quote it.

Can you model an existing design I already have, or do you only design from scratch?

Accepted Answer

Both. If you have a photo, sketch, or an existing piece you want replicated or adapted, we can model it accurately in SolidWorks/SWOOD. If you're starting from a brief with no fixed design yet, we design it with you from your requirements.

Are revisions included, or charged separately?

Accepted Answer

A reasonable number of revisions are included as part of the design process — parametric modelling makes most changes quick to make. Extensive redesigns or a change in brief partway through may be quoted separately; we'll flag that before any extra work begins.

Can I see examples of previous design projects?

Accepted Answer

Yes — see our case studies for completed 3D design and design-to-manufacture projects.

Question 5

What if I only need the design, not the manufacturing?

Accepted Answer

That's fine — the design service stands alone. You'll receive the 3D model, an accurate preview, and a full cutting list, which you can take to your own workshop or CNC supplier. Combining design with our CNC machining and edgebanding is optional, not required.

Question 6

Can you combine 3D design with CNC machining and edgebanding?

Accepted Answer

Yes — this is our full design-to-delivery service. The 3D model is used to produce both the cutting list and the CNC-ready geometry, which is then programmed into Alphacam toolpaths. Components are CNC-machined and edgebanded at our Newbury workshop.

Do we need to supply dimensions, or can you take measurements?

Accepted Answer

Both options are available. For remote projects, clients supply room dimensions, drawings, or site survey data. For projects in or near Newbury, an on-site visit can be arranged.

What software do you use for 3D furniture design?

Accepted Answer

SolidWorks with the SWOOD add-in. This produces parametric 3D models with accurate cutting lists and direct CNC output capability. AutoCAD is used for 2D technical drawings where required.

Do you produce photorealistic interior renders?

Accepted Answer

No — this isn’t an interior visualisation or lifestyle-render service. What you get is an accurate 3D preview of the actual piece as it will be manufactured.

Question 10

Can you design in SWOOD and pass the file to a workshop that also uses SWOOD?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We work in SolidWorks 2026 and supply native SolidWorks/SWOOD files, which are backward-compatible with most newer versions, but not forward-compatible — a workshop running a older version than 2026 may not be able to open the native file. For guaranteed compatibility regardless of the receiving workshop's software version, we can also supply a STEP file alongside the native file.
