Client Objective


The client approached us with detailed CAD drawings for bespoke MDF doors designed to enhance the art-deco interiors of a room in Newbury, Berkshire. The challenge was to craft stable, high-quality doors with smooth surfaces that could be hand-painted to match the room's unique décor.

Our Solution


To meet the client’s requirements, we decided on a CNC-routing approach. This allowed us to precisely machine the recesses and reverse shapes as per the CAD specifications. The final structure was achieved by press-gluing multiple layers of MDF together, ensuring stability, smoothness, and a premium finish.



 

Process Highlights

  1. CAD Interpretation: We meticulously translated the CAD drawings into a CNC routing program, ensuring every dimension and detail was accurately reproduced.

  2. Material Preparation: High-quality 25mm MDF sheets were selected for machining.

  3. CNC Routing: Using a CNC router, we created clean and consistent recesses, achieving the detailed design with precision.

  4. Layering and Assembly: Reverse shapes were cut and layered with industrial-strength adhesive, ensuring structural stability and minimizing warping.

  5. Final Inspection: Each panel was carefully inspected to ensure a flawless finish, ready for the client's painting process.



 

Outcome


The result was a series of MDF doors and decorative bar shelf surrounds that adhered to the client’s specifications. The CNC-routed details provided the perfect base for hand-painting, transforming the raw MDF into stunning pieces of art décor.
